Charleston's Hometown Plumbers

Goose Creek is one of the largest cities in Berkeley County, with a strong military community tied to Joint Base Charleston and a housing stock that ranges from 1970s and 1980s subdivisions to newer planned developments. The plumbing in a 1985 Crowfield Plantation home has almost nothing in common with the plumbing in a newer build in Liberty Hall or Boulder Bluff, and we know the difference because we work on both.

Pineapple Plumbing serves Goose Creek homeowners from our office in Summerville, just a short drive away. Co-owners Austin Holcomb, a U.S. Marine veteran, and Austin Webb, a lifelong Summerville native with over 14 years in the trade, bring a combined 22 years of hands-on plumbing experience to every Goose Creek call. We diagnose the problem first, explain what we found in plain language, and give you a clear price before any work begins.

Why Goose Creek Homes Face Specific Plumbing Challenges

1970s to 1990s construction dominates much of the city. A significant portion of Goose Creek’s housing was built during the suburban growth era of the 1970s through 1990s, as the city expanded alongside the naval base community. Homes from this period commonly have galvanized steel supply lines that have been corroding internally for decades, producing low water pressure, rust-colored water, and leaks at joints that keep returning no matter how many times you patch them. Many homes built between 1978 and 1995 across Goose Creek, particularly in some of the earlier Crowfield Plantation sections and surrounding neighborhoods, may also contain polybutylene pipes, a gray flexible plastic that deteriorates from the inside when exposed to chlorine in treated municipal water. Polybutylene failures are often sudden and without warning, and some South Carolina insurance companies charge higher premiums or restrict water-damage coverage for homes with this material still in place.

Military families cycling through on tight timelines. Goose Creek’s proximity to Joint Base Charleston means a meaningful share of the housing market turns over as families are stationed in and out of the area. A pre-purchase plumbing inspection is especially valuable for families buying during a PCS move, when the closing timeline is compressed and there’s little room to deal with plumbing surprises after the moving truck has already left. We’ve walked plenty of incoming families through exactly what they’re getting into before they sign, and a written inspection report gives real estate agents something concrete to work with during negotiations.

Established neighborhoods with aging infrastructure. Areas like Howe Hall, Devon Forest, and Heathwood have housing stock that’s now 40 to 50 years old in many cases. Original shut-off valves in these homes are frequently seized gate valves that haven’t been operated in years, which means they won’t work when you actually need them during an emergency. We replace these with modern quarter-turn ball valves as part of routine service so homeowners have reliable control over their water supply.

Newer developments bring different issues. Modern PEX and PVC plumbing in newer Goose Creek construction is reliable and long-lasting, but new doesn’t mean problem-free. High municipal water pressure, sometimes exceeding 80 psi in parts of the city, stresses fixtures, supply connections, and water heaters over time. Builder-grade faucets and toilets installed during construction also tend to wear out faster than homeowners expect, and we regularly replace them with more durable alternatives during routine service calls.

Crawl-space humidity affects raised-foundation homes. Many Goose Creek homes, especially those built before the 1990s, sit on raised foundations with plumbing running through the crawl space. The Lowcountry’s humid climate keeps these spaces damp for much of the year, which accelerates corrosion on exposed metal pipes and fittings and creates conditions favorable to mold growth around plumbing connections.

Plumbing Services We Provide in Goose Creek

General Plumbing Repairs. Leaking faucets, running toilets, pipe leaks, low water pressure, and corroded shut-off valves. We diagnose the cause, not just the symptom.

Leak Detection and Pipe Repair. Hidden leaks behind walls, under floors, and in crawl spaces. We use acoustic detection, thermal imaging, and pressure testing to find the source before opening more of your home than necessary.

Drain Cleaning. Clogged kitchen sinks, slow shower drains, and recurring main line backups. Snaking, hydro jetting, and camera inspections available.

Water Heater Repair and Replacement. No hot water, strange sounds, leaking tanks, or units past their prime. We repair and replace both tank and tankless systems.

Fixture Installation. Toilets, faucets, sinks, showers, and garbage disposals installed correctly and up to code, including replacing worn builder-grade fixtures with more durable hardware.

Garbage Disposal Repair and Installation. Jammed units, disposals that hum without grinding, and leaks beneath the sink.

Sewer Line Repair. Backups, recurring clogs, and drainage problems tied to aging pipe materials. We camera-inspect before recommending repair or replacement.

Plumbing Maintenance and Inspections. Annual checkups, water heater flushes, crawl-space evaluations, and pre-purchase inspections, especially valuable for military families on tight PCS timelines.

Emergency Plumbing. Burst pipes, sewer backups, flooding, and no-water situations. Call (843) 739-7438 any time.

Common Plumbing Problems in Goose Creek Homes

Declining water pressure in established neighborhoods. In homes built during the 1970s through 1990s, this is almost always galvanized supply lines corroding internally. Cleaning aerators offers temporary relief, but replacing the affected lines with PEX or copper is the long-term fix.

Recurring leaks that keep coming back. If you’ve had two or three separate pipe leaks in different areas of the house over a year or two, that’s not bad luck. It’s usually a sign the entire supply system has reached the point where localized repairs are just delaying the inevitable.

Shut-off valves that don’t work. Seized gate valves are extremely common in Goose Creek homes 30-plus years old. We replace them proactively during service visits so they’re reliable when an emergency happens.

Water heaters that were never maintained. Years of sediment buildup reduce hot water capacity and shorten the unit’s lifespan. A simple annual flush, included in our maintenance inspections, restores performance.

Polybutylene pipe concerns in 1980s and 1990s homes. If your Goose Creek home falls in this construction window, we can identify the pipe material during an inspection and discuss what it means for both your plumbing and your insurance coverage.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a plumber cost in Goose Creek?
Most common plumbing repairs run $150 to $500, depending on the issue. Drain cleaning typically costs $110 to $275 for a single fixture. Water heater replacement ranges from $1,200 to $2,500 for standard tank units and $2,500 to $4,500+ for tankless. We provide a written estimate before starting so you know the cost before we begin.
Yes. Burst pipes, sewer backups, active flooding, and no-water situations are emergencies we respond to as quickly as possible. Call (843) 739-7438 any time.
Yes. We understand the tight timelines that come with PCS moves, and we can schedule pre-purchase inspections quickly and provide written reports your agent can use during negotiations.
Look for gray, flexible plastic pipe in your crawl space, attic, or where plumbing enters the home. This material is common in Goose Creek homes built between 1978 and 1995. We can confirm the pipe material during a plumbing inspection and discuss what it means for your home and insurance.
Why does my water pressure keep dropping?
In older Goose Creek homes, declining pressure across the house usually means galvanized supply lines corroding internally, narrowing the pipe's diameter over decades. A plumbing evaluation identifies whether the supply lines, the pressure regulator, or something else is the cause.
It depends on what's actually wrong. A failed heating element or thermostat is usually a straightforward, affordable repair. A tank that's corroding and leaking, or a unit that's required multiple repairs already, is a better candidate for replacement. We assess the specific failure and the unit's overall condition rather than assuming age alone tells the whole story.
For most Goose Creek homes, once a year is a good schedule. Homes over 30 years old, or those with a history of recurring issues, benefit from twice-yearly checks. An annual inspection covers supply lines, shut-off valves, the water heater, drain performance, and the crawl space.

These guys are amazing! I called due to a clogged drain and they came out the next day. They even stayed until late evening to ensure the problem was resolved that day. All the technicians were friendly and communicated upon arrival. One of the owners even called to follow up from the visit. I have already recommended them to several people and will continue to highly recommend them to anyone in need of plumbing services.

So I posted a 5⭐️ review a month or so ago. I had all of my pipes re-done and some fixtures replaced by these wonderful people. Here we are a month later and somehow I have managed to loosen my kitchen sink. I txt them at noon, embarrassed I might add, to need help with something so frivolous. By 2 pm Austin showed up to my house to tighten it, all the while assuring me it was his pleasure and wouldn’t accept a dime from me, as it was a part of my warranty. I will forever suggest these guys to everyone I know and am so grateful they are who I chose when there are so many options out there🥰
